A RECORD OF MOTOR RACING AT GOODWOOD by Robert Barker

£200.00
In 1999, St Leonards Press for The Formula One Register published “A Record of Motor Racing at Goodwood”. This was a complete record of EVERY RACE at this historic circuit from 1948 to 1966. As usual with our publications, it lists every entrant for every single race held including full result, grid positions, handicap and many chassis/registration numbers of competing cars. There is also a brief description of each event
The original book sold out in a short period of time. A 2nd Edition, limited edition of 150 copies is now available. The new edition contains a consider able amount of new information as well as different illustrations.
This book provides an invaluable source of information on cars that competed at Goodwood, a subject that is of great interest to many owners since the inauguration of the Goodwood Revival and Members meetings

A RECORD OF THE BRITISH HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP VOLUME 1 1947-2000

£75.00

by Formula One Register with Jerry Sturman

The Formula One Register/St Leonards Press is pleased to announce two new books covering the British Hillclimb Championship from its start in 1947 to 2018.

This is Volume 1 covering 1947-2000 running at over 400 pages

Over this 72 year period the championship has evolved through eras dominated by the Cooper-JAP V-twin in the 1950s, then ex-Formula 1, F5000, F2, FJ chassis and even 4-wheel-drive cars which held sway in the 1960s and 70s before specialist machinery such as Pilbeam, Gould and OMS took over. Similarly, the leading drivers have included names who made their mark elsewhere such as ERA and BRM founder Raymond Mays and legendary all-rounders Ken Wharton and Tony Marsh. More recently, the rather specialised nature of the sport has bred its own particular heroes such as Roy Lane, Martin Groves, Trevor Willis and Scott Moran.

As with other Formula One Register titles, the emphasis is on providing the most comprehensive possible record of every round. For virtually all events, full results are given together with chassis numbers for the majority of cars. A similar record was published by us in 1995, but this first volume has been expanded to include chassis numbers as well as some previously missing information and, following extensive research into the various scoring systems used, revised points tables. In conjunction with Volume 2, such a wealth of detail has never before been published.

Each of the two volumes is hard bound and retail at £75 + £4.50 P&P (UK)

It may be possible to arrange for books to be collected at events by prior arrangement.

Can-Am 1966-1987

£60.00

Can-Am started out as a race series for group 7 sports racers with two races in Canada (Can) and four races in the United States of America (Am). The series was governed by rules under the FIA group 7 category for two-seater racing cars with unrestricted engine capacity and few other technical restrictions. Spiralling costs, a recession in North America following the oil crisis, and dwindling support and interest led to the series being cancelled and the last scheduled race of the 1974 season not being run.

The Can-Am name still held enough drawing power to lead SCCA to introduce a revised Can-Am series in 1977 based on a closed-wheel version of the rules of the recently cancelled Formula A/5000 series. This grew steadily in status, particularly during the USAC/CART wars of the late 70s and early 80s, and attracted some top road-racing teams and drivers and a range of vehicles including specials based on rebodied single seaters (particularly Lola F5000s) and also bespoke cars from constructors like March as well as smaller manufacturers.

To broaden the appeal of the series a 2-litre class was introduced for the last several years with cars often being derived from F2/Formula Atlantic. Can-Am remains a well-remembered form of racing due to its popularity at one time, the spectacular cars and the line-up of talented drivers. Can-Am cars remain popular in historic racing.

As a sports car series it is therefore outside the usual focus of the Formula One Register, however 1974 was the last year for the original Can-Am championship. Rather than just focus on the single-seater based era, this record covers the whole Can-Am series from 1966 to 1987.

It is in the usual Record Book format of entry, grid and results with chassis numbers if known. The is no descriptive text or photographs. With 237 pages, in black hard-cover bindings the cost is £60 plus postage.

Formula 4 Results (2015)

£35.00

In March 2013 the FIA announced the creation of Formula 4 as a stepping stone between karting and F3 for young drivers. It soon became clear that Formula 4 was going to hasten the demise of the few remaining national F3 championships. Although the Formula One Register has not previously covered “fourth-tier” classes, now that there is a FIA recognised structure which, as mentioned, seems to be standing in the place of National Formula 3, we have decided to keep records of Formula 4 results.

We are now able to make these records available on a print-to-order basis.
